This morning, SA Recycling and the Port of Los Angeles celebrated a major milestone of handling 5 million tons of recycled metals processed with an all-electric Liebherr 550 mobile crane. This $6.3 million crane is the first all-electric crane of its type operating in the U.S., and it was acquired, in part through funding from a $1.3 million Environmental Protection Agency Diesel Emissions Reduction Act (DERA) grant, by the Port of LA and its customers in an effort to transition to cleaner equipment.
Years of hard work and dedication have been poured into this achievement, and is yet another testament to SA Recycling`s ongoing proactive effort at taking steps toward zero-emission goals in the Port of Los Angeles.
Leading this effort is Regional General Manager of SA Recycling and our very own Wilmington Chamber President, Moises Figueroa!
